It's my blog, and I'll brag if I want to. It just isn't politically correct to shout out your child's accomplishments everywhere you go, but that's what I want to do. I am so proud of my daughter this morning. Alexia Anne, super genius.
I had a meeting this morning where we went over the results of Alexia's gifted screening. They don't test very many Kindergartners, but they decided to test her. Her IQ score came back as 153! 99.98%! Wow! I have one smart little cookie on my hands. They asked me if I had trouble keeping up with her. Well, not yet. Why? Do I have that look about me?
My son was never given an IQ test, but it makes me wonder what his score might be. I bet he's up there too. I hope that I can guide them as their mother to be meaningful citizens. They certainly possess the ability and know how. All they need is the tools and hopefully no major mistakes.
An excerpt from the report:
Alexia presented as an adorable, related and warm, talkative, highly engaged, young female. She enthusiastically reported about her interests, family, school, and books she likes to read. She excitedly told about a recent acquisition of a desk chair for her room at home, but which "requires assembly." Later, she announced proudly that she can "count to 100, I really can!" which she proceeded to do easily. She spoke about her love of dancing and dancers. Alexia explained she wishes to be a veterinarian one day. When asked to discuss what she meant by this, she appeared confused by this examiner's apparent lack of knowledge, but proceeded to offer a highly detailed description of this profession. Clearly, Alexia was a youngster who was confident and comfortable with both formal and informal portions of the assessment. She was able to shift her efforts easily between tasks which demanded concentration and attention to those requiring elaborated, abstract thinking and use of her strong vocabulary. A delight to test, this exceptionally bright young girl performed well on all presented tasks.
You go, girl! Your mom always knew you were a gifted, intelligent, beautiful girl, and I am so glad that others are seeing it too. I love you.

I LOVE that she looked confused that the examiner didn't know what a veterinarian was... I can just picture it! She sounds charming!!!
+1 to the quote about the examiner. So cute. :)
